You’re on YouTube and Instagram both of which require a lot of time and energy. How do you find balance and manage your time for both platforms when creating your content?
I try to take as many videos and photos as I can in a day and spread them out within the following weeks. That way I can have content lined up for both my YouTube channel and Instagram page. Usually my priority is to film a YouTube video first and then take clips from it to create content made that can be made for Instagram.
What’s your favorite part about creating content for your social media channels?
I love to create content that people will enjoy whether it's in makeup, hair, or fashion. If they like what they see, then at the end of the day it makes me feel happy that what I create is loved by someone. I get questions about my hair all the time and there are people that I have been messaging back and forth for months of all ages on YouTube and Instagram, so I try my best to respond to each and every message that I get. I am happy to be able to help people and give them advice.
You started a seperate Instagram page called @visuvisualcreations, featuring your photography. How long have you been a professional photographer and what made you want to pursue this?
It’s been around two years now and the reason I started my photography page was because I was getting so tired of seeing just my face all the time and wanted to see something different. I wanted to take photos of other people, products, and things that I love.
Is everything you’ve learned self-taught?
Yes, I learned everything on my own. It’s so much easier to learn hands on from someone who can show you in person how to use a camera and shoot pictures, but I didn’t have anyone like that so I had to teach myself on my own by playing around with the buttons and features on my camera as well as watching tutorials.
I noticed that you’re a rep for many different brands. How do you create these amazing opportunities for yourself?
At first I was reaching out to brands by email, but 9 out 10 times I would get turned down because I either didn’t have enough followers or they weren’t doing collaborations at the time. So then I would just shoot photos of products that I genuinely love and I would tag the brands. Slowly, they started reaching out to me for collaborations. A lot of them say that they saw me from YouTube, so I would always be posting on all of my social media pages and I try to show a variety of content in hair, makeup, fashion and everything else that I can.
What are some self care habits that have been really valuable to you during this time?
Once a week I would take my kids to see their grandma, so that is sort of my time for self care. I would usually have a little staycation and pamper myself with sheet masks, and do my hair, makeup or nails. I also use this time to shoot content too.
You’re a mother of two beautiful children and your routine must be so different compared to someone who doesn’t have children. How have you been tending to your kids and your own mental health during this time?
Everyday we would spend time together and lately we have been playing card games like uno and go fish. My daughter has been obsessed with spa days! I would put a cream mask on her face and create my own sheet mask by cutting holes in a paper towel, wetting it and placing it on her face. She’s really been enjoying herself with these spa days and playing around with makeup. I’m sure someday she will even have her own YouTube channel!
Fave Fanola Products?
My favorite products are the Vegan No Orange Shampoo and Mask! I always like the look of a bright and icy blonde. Everytime I use these products, it’s all I need to get the color I want without a toner. I also love Fiber Fix Bond Connector and enjoy using it because my hair gets bleached a lot and it keeps my hair hydrated and soft.
