Fanola Babe Spotlight: Alexis Gomez

Fanola Babe Spotlight: Alexis Gomez

Fanola Babes are a large part of our Fanola Fam, and during these times we wanted to check in with our babes and chat with them about how they're spending their time at home!

Meet our Fanola Babe, Alexis Gomez!

She's our babe from Newport Beach, CA. She's the ultimate #OOTD inspo, intelligent, a great cook, and is a pro at self-care! She gave us some insights on how she's taking care of herself during quarantine.

What are some ways that you've been self caring during this time?

Alexis: For me, It starts with a good playlist no matter what I’m doing I’m listening to some type of music, from Motown to Drake and anything in between! I like to start my mornings of with some type of workout... a morning run, yoga or a workout (on YouTube).
This has also been a makeup free time, self-care for me is taking care of my skin, hair and my mind! With that being said, I love to treat my self with mini facials at home, hair masks, mani-pedis and waxing... basically I turned my house into a spa!

In the evenings, I’m always cooking!! Teaching myself new recipes every night, I find it so therapeutic to unwind in the kitchen and make something yummy! I truly believe this is a time to master a craft... take advantage of all this free time and come out this quarantine a better chef, artist, or DIY master!  I’ve been treating myself with a glass of wine or teaching myself how to make a signature cocktail... this week it’s a “Paloma” ... Here’s the recipe below :)

  • kosher salt
  • 1 grapefruit wedge
  • ¼ cup fresh grapefruit juice
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • ¼ cup mescal or tequila
  • ¼ cup club soda

Pour some kosher salt on a plate. Rub half of rim of a highball glass with grapefruit wedge; dip rim of glass in salt. Combine grapefruit juice, lime juice, and sugar in glass; stir until sugar is dissolved. Stir in mescal, add ice, and top off with club soda. Garnish with grapefruit wedge.

What have you been doing to take care of your hair during these days spent at home?

A: This is a time to give your hair a break from hot tools of all kind! I have been trying to take a break from washing my hair every day to try and not dry out my hair because my hair is more fine. When I do have my hair wash day, I use Fanola’s Nutricare Shampoo and twice a week I add in their No Orange Shampoo to help keep my blondes bright! Once out of the shower, I immediately towel try, wait to brush my hair until it’s a dry/damp... because your hair is the weakest when wet, you don’t want to cause split ends! Add a couple drops of hair oil and keratin mist and voila!

What self care items do you tend to splurge on?

A: Skin care!! We all know that good skincare brands are not cheap, so this is definitely my splurge item of quarantine. Right now, I’m really focused on keeping my face clear, hydrated and all around GLOWY! What’s great is a lot of brands are offering sales right now on their main websites, so I have definitely taken advantage of that! Some brands and Items that I’m very into at the moment are; Tacha: Violet-C Brightening Serum, Keihls- Midnight Recovery Oil, Laneige- Water Sleeping Mask.

On how she's taking care of her mental health during these difficult times:

For me it’s all about having a routine, I need to put an alarm for the morning, change out of lounge-wear. I start with a to-do of all the things you want to achieve each day to create a sense of normality and productivity.

Breaking up my day — I try to find tasks to do around the house, wether it’s DIY projects or organizing my closet to get rid of stuff to sell on Poshmark, I suggest breaking up your day and, where possible, change your environment, even if it’s going outside for a run or walk. Going on my neighborhood beach walk in my LIFE SAVER! Seeing the ocean for my nightly walk relaxes my mind and definitely brings the peace!

Taking care of my body — I’m trying to cook all my meals at home, so I can control what goes into my diet! For me, cooking is very therapeutic and It bring me such happiness because I grew up with my dad who always enjoyed being in the kitchen! The GOLDEN 3 for me is eating healthily, plenty of sleep and daily exercise.

Anyone who follows you can tell how fashionable you are! When did your love for fashion begin and how?

A: Since I was little, I have always been into fashion, clothes and bright color patterns. My mom grew up the same way, she is the one who I owe my love for vintage clothes especially! She used to sew her own clothes, and I reassemble vintage clothes together to create something unique and new. I have always had an eye for fashion and I like to think I definitely dress outside the box and don’t follow trends by the book, I like what I like and love to mix patterns and colors, because why not?! Since college, the love for all things fashion has grown into my career, I have worked in the luxury retail for the last two years and absolutely love it!

How would you describe your personal style?

A: I would definitely say eclectic! I dress according to my mood, some days are monochromatic with an all white look and some days I’m mixing polka dots with stripes... you never know what you’re going to get with me! I love that about my wardrobe, I have secondhand and vintage pieces, designer pieces, new contemporary pieces and everything under the sun! A must for my personal style is gold jewelry though! The more the merrier, I love to stack rings, bracelets, earrings and necklaces, I can’t leave the house with out them!

On her favorite Fanola products and being a #Fanola Babe:

My go-to products are the Fanola No Orange shampoo, 24k Oro Therapy Mask, and Nutri Care Restructuring Serum! I use the No Orange shampoo 2-3 times a week to keep my brassy tones out of my blondes and it’s a game changer!! The 24k hair mask is also my go-to hair mask that keeps my hair silky smooth and I use it 3-5 times a week because I love how soft it leaves my hair. The Nutri Care Oil I put every time I get out of the shower, a couple drops goes a long way and helps to keep my shiny and silky!

My favorite thing about being a #FanolaBabe is the involvement and sense of community I have working with this brand! Fanola makes you feel like you are part of a family and I love that sense of closeness and attachment that I have with this wonderful brand! They are always keeping you involved with fun events, campaign and keeping us close and connected! (shout out to my girl Adrianna from the social team! ) #FanolaBabe for life!!!

What is the first thing you're going to do when quarantine ends?!

A: Wake up and go to the gym! I know it’s silly but going to my local gym I miss ALOT. Then I will go sit down at my local coffee shop and enjoy that luxury of sitting indoors! Then next thing is shopping, I really miss the mall and wandering around for hours and trying on clothes, oh how I’ve missed that!! Then go sit down at a restaurant and eat dinner around other people and end my day at a rooftop bar somewhere with a view! My perfect day when quarantine ends.
